Purpose: To bring young professionals in the Dayton Area together through a single day of competition and fun, while also raising money for a charity.

What is a Young Professional?

Young is defined in a myriad of ways. For the purpose of this event, �¢??Young�¢?? is defined as under the age of 40 or within the first 5 years of working for their respective companies.

Who can participate in the YP Cup?

- Non-profit organizations whose main focus is the betterment of Young Professionals (examples: UpDayton, Generation Dayton, Young Black Professionals, Springboro Young Professionals, South Dayton Young Professionals, etc)

- Organizations whose main focus is to bring together young professionals (Dayton Sportcial, Dayton Board of Realtors, etc.)

- Companies who have organized young professional groups (Junior Force Council, Synchrony Diversity Groups, Reynolds & Reynolds, NavistarFinancial Leadership, Lexis Nexis, DP&L,etc)

YP Cup Team Composition

- There are no gender specified minimums or maximums

- Each participating member must be affiliated to the organization or a significant other

2019 Young Professional Cup Specifics This year is a winner-take-all event. The winner of this year�¢??s Young Professional Cup will take home the trophy, a special prize, and their designated charity will receive the donation for the entire cup. This year�¢??s competition will be divided into 5 different components: Can You Hear Me, Cornhole, Obstacle Course, Relay Race, Tug of War. Component 1 : Can you hear me? - Event Explanation: A big part of this is to call awareness to our organizations and the charities that we support. Also, this is for fun! So let�¢??s see that spirit! Dress up, rep your colors, get pumped! And let the world know who you are with and what charity you are playing for. This is a social media contest - The scoring is the addition of the following two events o 1 point for each like, comment, or share of the pre-YP Cup post identifying what charity that they are playing for on the organization�¢??s Facebook Account. #YPCUPDYT19 o 1 point for each like, comment or share of their day of event team picture on the organization�¢??s Instagram account. Conclusion of the count will be 1530L. #YPCUPDYT19 - Points toward overall total: o The team with the highest combined point total will receive two times the amount of team points toward the overall total. Every place after receives two points less than the previous position. �¯?�§ (Example: If there are 8 teams, winning team receives 16 points, while the very last place team receives 2 points) o An additional 5 points will be added to the overall total of the team with the most spirit. �¯?�§ The team with the most spirit is decided by a vote by all of the other teams. The team vote will occur at 1530L Component 2: Cornhole - Event Explanation: This is a 2 person Double Elimination Cornhole Tournament. Games are to 21, teams may go over. The distance between boards is 27 feet from the front edge of each of the boards. Players may not cross the front edge of the board when throwing. - Points toward overall total: o The 1st place team will receive two times the amount of team points toward the overall total. Every place after receives two points less than the previous position. �¯?�§ (Example: If there are 8 teams, winning team receives 16 points, while the very last place team receives 2 points) Component 3: Obstacle Course - Event Explanation. Each team will be composed of 5 players. They will race head-to-head through the inflatable obstacle course against another organization. Matchups will be randomized. The head-to-head winners advance. Also the top two times of the non-winners will advance to the next round. A single elimination tournament will occur with seeding based on prelim round times. Non-winners with a faster preliminary time that a head-to-head winner may have a higher seed. - The scoring for the event is as follows o Final placement will be determined by the time posted during the round where the team was knocked out. �¯?�§ (Example: In the Semi-Final round, both teams A & B lose, but team A post a time of 1:04, while team B post a time of 69 seconds. Since team A had the faster time, they would receive the higher placement of 3rd place) - Points toward overall total: o The 1st place team will receive two times the amount of team points toward the overall total. Every place after receives two points less than the previous position. �¯?�§ (Example: If there are 8 teams, winning team receives 16 points, while the very last place team receives 2 points) Component 4: Relay race - Event Explanation. Each team will be composed of 10 players. Players will be linked together by their legs in groups of 4, 3, and 2, to create a 5-legged team, 4-legged team, and 3 legged team respectively. This in addition to a lone runner will comprise one relay team. Heats will be randomized. The top 2 in each heat will advance. Also the top two times of the non-winners will advance to the next round. Depending on number of participating teams, there will be a semifinal round or go direct to a final round. - The scoring for the event is as follows o Final placement will be determined by the time posted during the round where the team was knocked out. �¯?�§ (Example: In the Semi-Final round, teams A & B place 2nd and 3rd respectively, but team A post a time of 1:04, while team B post a time of 69 seconds. Since team A had the faster time, they would receive the higher placement of 2nd place) - Points toward overall total: o The 1st place team will receive two times the amount of team points toward the overall total. Every place after receives two points less than the previous position. �¯?�§ (Example: If there are 8 teams, winning team receives 16 points, while the very last place team receives 2 points) Component 5: Tug of War - Event Explanation: Each team will be composed of 7 players. They will compete head-to-head in tug of war against another organization. Preliminary matchups will be randomized. The head-to-head winners advance. - Points toward overall total: o The 1st place team will receive two times the amount of team points toward the overall total. Every place after receives two points less than the previous position. �¯?�§ (Example: If there are 8 teams, winning team receives 16 points, while the very last place team receives 2 points) The team with the highest overall total will be declared the winner. In the event of a tie, it will be broken with a a best of 1 flip cup game.
